As you may already know, we seriously curtailed our breeding in 2007 in response to the over saturation of the Friesian cross market.  So, we do not have any 2008 Friesian crosses to offer for sale.  However we do have a few outstanding horses to offer.  We feel that our horses are priced below their market value, but we are taking into consideration that transport costs are high and we are in a remote area.

May we present for your consideration . . .

Prairie Travler

Alex x Bobbie Murphy (JC Thoroughbred)          $3950

Travler is a three year old gelding that we originally kept back for ourselves because we were impressed with him from the start.  We could tell he was going to be nice sized and put together exceptionally well. He is very sweet and tries to please.  He was intended to be a future riding horse for Steve.  In the meantime, Steve started riding Lacey and has decided that she is doing a great job of packing him around.  So, we really have no need for Travler and would like to see him go to a good home.  Travler is scheduled to go to a trainer in late August to be started under saddle and the price will go up accordingly in September.  He is black, but he does fade to dark brown by late summer.  We expect Travler to mature at approx. 16.3 hands.  He currently measures at 16.1 hands as of July '08.

SALE PENDING   Prairie Sapphire   SALE PENDING

Alex x Docs Blue Chex DR (blue roan QH/TB cross)          $3650

Sapphire is a two year old blue roan Friesian cross. She was sold within a few days when we offered her for sale in 2007, but extreme misfortune forced her new owner to sell her back to us. We took her to the 2008 Black Hills Horse Expo in March and were very pleased with how well she took everything in stride.  She is a very flashy filly with great conformation and color.  We expect Sapphire to mature at approx. 16.1 hands.  She is currently 15.2 hands.  These photos were taken in late May of 2008.  We are VERY tempted to keep this girl, so grab her while she is available!

NOTE: whenever we offer one of our blue roans for sale, I get at least one question regarding whether we have true blue roans or whether they are possibly grey horses with black points.  I don't mind those questions, because I also see people passing off their grey foals as blue roans.  Here are a few ways to know whether a horse is a blue roan or a grey: 1) at least one of the parents must be roan and NEITHER should be grey 2) does the blue roan parent get lighter with age?  If so, it is a grey 3) do the scrapes and wounds grow back with black hair?  If so, it is a blue roan and not a grey.  Look for these signs.  Insist on seeing photos of both parents.  And ask a color expert if you aren't sure.
